Youth living with cancer, chronic disease, disabilities or major trauma often require prolonged active rehabilitation. Families may be financially unable to access these services due to the limitations of Medicare rebates and out of pocket expenses.
Be Inspired Foundation provides scholarships for disadvantaged Western Australian youth living with cancer, chronic disease, disabilities or major trauma requiring access to active rehabilitation.
Scholarships from Be Inspired Foundation provide access to a treatment plan for dietetics, exercise physiology and counselling for those patients who require a higher level of services than can be provided by Medicare. Scholarships are valued at up to $2000 for 12 months.
General practitioners remain at the centre of any treatment plan offered by Be Inspired Foundation. We provide funding and have relationships with a number of allied health service providers in the Perth metropolitan area, however we can also work with other service providers should the general practitioner or patient prefer alternative options.
If you are a medical practitioner and have a patient you feel would benefit from a Be Inspired Foundation scholarship, please send a referral by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will review the referral and the needs of the patient and aim to be in touch within 7 days.
What happens after I refer a patient?
The Medicine and Allied Health team will review the application and discuss whether the applicant will benefit from a Be Inspired Foundation scholarship. We will aim to have a response within 7 days and will be in touch with the general practitioner.
If we agree to offer to applicant a scholarship, and the applicant accepts, we will organise a case conference with the patient and their family and the general practitioner. This is where we can clarify treatment goals and form an agreement for ongoing treatment.
